After unexpectedly moving back to Sydney from LA I needed a place to stay. My 94 year old Great Aunt offered me her apartment as she now resides in a nursing home. All her belongings are still here, just as she had left them. I found several of her decadent nightgowns in a drawer and became inspired to use them in a photo series. The series was shot along Byron Bay Road of NSW where fires engulfed the area 8 months earlier

My nieces, aged 13 & 15 show their innocence as they have begun the transition into young women. Their angelic, whimsical and haunting beauty, the regeneration of the bushland environment that surrounds them and the timeless elegance of nightgowns of our oldest surviving ancestor,

come together to tell a story of the cycle of life
