Emma Leslie is an Australian born Photographer and Filmmaker originally from the Northern Beaches of Sydney. She graduated from The Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS) in 2010 with a Graduate Diploma in Production Design
Emma moved to Los Angeles in 2011, where she found herself
Writing and Directing her first short film, studying Photography at Santa Monica College and working as an Associate Producer, Shooter
and Judge Coordinator for American Idol Seasons 12 & 13
In 2014 Emma relocated back to her home town Sydney and started her own photography business. Since 2015 Emma has worked along side renowned Sydney Wedding Photographer Michal Kriesch
In late 2015 Emma travelled to Melbourne to photograph several subjects for a portraiture series titled
'Transcend - Portraits of Transgender & Gender Diverse Youth'
which exhibited in Melbourne in April/May 2016
Sydney during the month of September 2016 and was selected to exhibit again in 2017 for Sydney's Head On Photo Festival.
Transcend has been published by the BBC, Buzzfeed, The Daily Telegraph, Woman's Day NYC, Metro UK just to name a few
Since filming in 2016, Emma has been working to complete a documentary short film which focuses on the youngest subject from her Transcend photo series. Titled 'Briella' the 7min short
follows the now nearly 7 year old as she rehearses for a
performance with her Uncles at her youth group.
Emma is passionate about taking portraits of people, challenging societies perceptions, creating awareness
and giving a voice to those who may not have one
